Short answer: yes, absolutely — and we say that having experienced it firsthand. Sandals Dunn’s River reopened in 2023 as what the brand calls “Sandals 2.0,” a completely reimagined resort that raises the bar across accommodations, dining, and design. Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, an anniversary trip, or just a long-overdue escape, this resort delivers on the promise of true luxury with a Caribbean soul.
For a deeper look at everything this resort offers, visit our full Sandals Dunn’s River page where we break down room categories, pricing tips, and resort facts.
We stayed in a SkyPool Suite overlooking the resort pool, beach, and the Caribbean Sea — and it was every bit as stunning as it sounds. The private infinity-edge pool on our suite terrace became our morning ritual. Our butler prepared breakfast for us right there by the pool, with views stretching out over the water. It’s the kind of morning that makes it very hard to go home.
Beyond the SkyPool Suites, Sandals Dunn’s River offers a range of incredible room options. Swim-up suites give you direct access to the pool right from your terrace. Plunge pool suites offer a private dip anytime you want. And then there are the Coyaba Sky Rondoval Villas — freestanding villas with rooftop terraces that are absolutely perfect for stargazing or a quiet evening under the open sky. If you’re celebrating something special, these are worth every penny.
This is a question we get asked a lot, and the honest answer is: if you’re debating it, upgrade. Butler service at Sandals is not a gimmick — it genuinely transforms your stay. Our butler was attentive, thoughtful, and took care of things before we even had to ask. Restaurant reservations, champagne upon arrival, that beautiful poolside breakfast — all handled seamlessly.
If you tend to want to relax completely and not think about logistics, butler service is absolutely worth the upgrade. It’s one of the things that makes this resort feel less like a hotel and more like a personal retreat.
The pools at Sandals Dunn’s River are genuinely one of the highlights of the property. Positioned to overlook the beach and the Caribbean Sea, they are as visually stunning as they are enjoyable. There are multiple pools across the resort, each with its own atmosphere — one lively with entertainment and games, another on the quieter side with a swim-up bar perfect for a lazy afternoon.
The swim-up bar is a social hub, and the bartenders are warm, fun, and pour generously. It’s the kind of place you sit down for “one quick drink” and realize an hour has passed.

Dining at Sandals Dunn’s River is outstanding across the board. The resort features 12 restaurants ranging from casual beachside bites to elevated a la carte experiences. Highlights include Cascata for Italian, Banyu for Pan-Asian fusion, and Zuka for Latin American flavors. Every meal we had was high quality, and the variety meant we never felt like we were eating the same thing twice.
Start your mornings at Blum Coffee Shop, where fresh pastries and proper Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee make for the perfect breakfast ritual. And in the evenings, don’t miss Dunn’s Rum Club — a uniquely Jamaican bar concept that becomes a favorite spot for guests every single night. There’s also a piano bar with ocean views if you’re looking for a more relaxed evening atmosphere.
One of the things we love most about Sandals Dunn’s River is that water sports are completely included — and you can go out as many times as you want. Waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and glass-bottom boat rides are all on the table, all included, with no sign-up fees or upcharges.
For golfers, complimentary green fees are included at Sandals Golf & Country Club, one of Jamaica’s top championship courses. (Cart and caddie fees are additional, but the greens themselves are on the house — a major perk.)

The fitness center at Sandals Dunn’s River is one of the best we’ve seen at any resort. State-of-the-art equipment, and a view that makes every workout feel like a reward in itself.
The location of Sandals Dunn’s River is one of its biggest selling points. Ocho Rios is home to some of Jamaica’s best-known experiences, and most of them are just minutes from the resort:
- Dunn’s River Falls — One of Jamaica’s most iconic attractions, and yes, it’s even more beautiful in person than the photos suggest. You can climb the famous terraced waterfall with a guide, making it a fun and active excursion for couples.
- Blue Hole — Crystal-clear spring-fed pools tucked into the jungle. Swimming here is absolutely unforgettable.
- Bamboo Rafting — A slow, peaceful float down the Martha Brae River on a traditional bamboo raft. Romantic and quintessentially Jamaican.
- Dolphin Encounter — For something truly special, a dolphin experience nearby makes for an incredible afternoon and a memory you’ll talk about for years.
It’s a rare combination: a resort where you could happily never leave, located in a place where the things just outside the gate are worth the effort of getting up.
Sandals Dunn’s River earns its place at the top of our Jamaica recommendations. The SkyPool Suites are exceptional, the butler service is the real deal, the dining is among the best we’ve had at any all-inclusive, and the location gives you access to some of Jamaica’s most beloved natural attractions. Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, an anniversary, or just need a proper reset, this resort delivers.
