Want everything finished? Aim for mid-January 2027 or later. A few venues, like the new rum club at South Coast, are coming after the official opening.

South Coast is getting a full refresh rather than a rebuild. It sat near the center of Hurricane Melissa’s path, but as the newest of the three properties, it came through with less structural damage.
- A brand-new arrival. The tower above the main pool has been removed. Now you walk through a completely redesigned lobby with an open view over the pool to the sea. Club Sandals check-in moves into the main lobby. Butler guests check in separately near the overwater suites.
- Beachfront Club Two Queen Junior Suites. Ten are coming to the Silver Sands building, built with friends traveling together and group trips in mind. Sandals is treating South Coast as the test for queen beds, so inventory is very limited.
- Butch’s Island Chop House replaces Eleanor’s, and a new coffee shop takes over the old café space.
- Tournament-standard pickleball. The tennis courts were converted, then rebuilt to meet international tournament standards.
- An expanded wedding chapel with more seating and a wider walkway.
- Refreshed overwater villas. These are already finished.
- An easier drive from Montego Bay airport. The Montego Bay perimeter road bypass is scheduled to open around October, and a new route over the mountains should eventually cut about 30 minutes off the drive to South Coast. Airlines are also exploring more flights into Jamaica. Nothing is final yet, and we’ll share updates as they’re confirmed.
The biggest change to the Sandals brand at this property is that it is no longer just for couples, Sandals South Coast is for all adults. This property will include rooms with double and king bed options to accommodate this change.
Honest note: The new rum club is part of a second phase, targeted for early 2027, so it won’t be open on reopening day.

The one thing Sandals can’t change is the beach, and Montego Bay has always been known for its long stretch of white sand. So every shoreline change was made to show off more of it. The buildings that sat on the sand are gone. Now it’s palm trees, beach, and loungers from end to end.

- Dining: Buccan (wood-fired, replacing Tokyo Joe’s), Scrimshaw seafood, and a jerk shack with indoor A/C seating
- Drinks & hangouts: Bay Roc Rum Club and the new Parasol Beach Club
- Pools & rooms: A redesigned main pool and new swim-up suites
- Weddings & activities: No more over- the-water chapel. An overwater function space for ceremonies, plus pickleball ready on opening day
